Kipling Bags

While my wife and I were out today, we had to pass through Vivocity Mall. The monorail going to Sentosa Island departs from there. Since we were there anyway, we decided to stop by the Kipling store to have a look at the bags. My wife has been talking about wanting a new Kipling bag for almost a year. The last one she had was ruined when battery acid got on it.

So, we took a look inside, and, thankfully, almost everything was on sale. It’s the Great Singapore Sale right now! So, she found a bag she liked and while she was posing in the mirror I went ahead and browsed around a bit myself. I saw the one on the right and liked it and decided I should get one as well.

In the end, my wife wound up paying for both of the bags, as a gift, since I was covering the costs of our outing to Sentosa.

If you’re not familiar with Kipling, they’re a really good brand. Also, each bag comes with a monkey attached to it, like you can see in the photo. Each monkey has a tag on it with a name. My wife’s bag, on the left, has a monkey named Lorena (scary right?). My bag has a monkey named Clotilde on it. Sounds like some sort of heavily muscled Norse woman to me.

Regardless, the bags are nice. They’re made of a good quality and should last us for quite a few years. I want more!

  1. What if you saw me sitting somewhere, gently smacking the monkey's bottom?Ah, nevermind. You answered that question at the end of your comment! ^_^Eh, I'm not typically so much into branded items, but we went a year without buying too much of anything for ourselves. So now that we have some extra cash, we figured it was past time for us to treat ourselves to a few nice things.

  2. The cat in the picture is small still. Her ass fits in the palm of my hand, so you can't really use her for perspective. It's more of a messenger bag. I do want a backpack for my laptop, but that will have to wait until next time.Take down the monkey? That's the symbol of the Kipling brand. The monkey makes the bag. People who recognize it will know that, and people who don't will at least enquire about it and find out. It is an odd sight.

  3. You have same taste when it comes to bag. I also wear messenger type bags only and the color above is one of my fav. That color or dark brown, yep. That's ma style ^_^

  4. I have to add that I had to laugh about spanking the monkey. Heard that ALL the time in the restaurant business! Men can be such pigs. Take it easy Nino, just kidding, just kidding.Too bad I lost that photo of the guys mooning for a Kodak moment. Wretched cooks “stole” my camera and boy did I ever get a surprise when I developed the roll of film (way, way back then pre-digital).

  5. I think you chose for yourself a very good man bag. And yes, that's what some might say, you never know! I owned a Kipling and they are indeed, very well-made products.

  6. Yea, ok, so she explained that she doesn't have the monkey for the reason: Look I have a Kipling bag, she just thinks he's cute. Ok, thanks for clarifying that ๐Ÿ™‚ But I'd still remove the monkey and give him to a kid. Don't like me a monkey dangling down ma bag, no no… ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. its not about keeping the monkey to validate that its a kipling bag. dont get me wrong. i like kiplings because theyre sturdy, reliable for a long time and stylish. im not a signature person. ask bradley about that. i buy stuff because theyre reasonably priced and i trust their quality. you want to take the down the monkey off a bag because its about gender doubt issues, no offense meant. we like the monkey coz its very cute and not because it screamsHey I have a Kipling bag. And honestly we dont care what people think about a stuffed keychain. Its a shallow thing to worry about. Kipling bag are not at all extravagant like buying an LV or a coach or a birkin. Its not a luxury but a necessity. having a monkey keychain is nothing close to seeing a scantily clad beached whale.hehhe

  8. I myself would take down the monkey, I don't care whether people know it's a Kipling bag, because I don't care about brands when it comes to clothes, bags and accessories… I only like a good quality brand of a wristwatch, but no bling-bling. It doesn't have to be visible to everybody. Those who know quality, know. In fact, I heard about the Kipling bag for the first time today and if I saw you with that bag, I'd probably just be thinking: What's that white guy doing with that dangeling monkey on his bag ๐Ÿ˜› Then I would post a twitpic, like you posted that 'beacher whale', I'd tag it with 'American spanking his monkey in public' ๐Ÿ˜›

  9. my dear, the monkey makes the bag. its what kipling is known for. hehe besides my husband is very sure of his sexuality. no stuffed keychain will make him less of a man. hahaha

  10. Yours looks nice, does a laptop fit in? How much did it cost? I'd only take down the monkey, looks a bit girly ๐Ÿ˜›
