My wife and I enjoy Halloween, especially the aesthetic, so she surprised me by ordering a Lego sugar skull. It’s officially called “Altar of the Dead”.
It didn’t take too long to put together, maybe 20 minutes, but it was fun and it looks pretty good too.
I love the detail in the altar items, especially the chicken leg. I’m not quite sure what the stuff to the right of the chicken leg is, but I’m thinking maybe bread rolls.
I didn’t realize food offerings to the dead was a thing in Hispanic culture. I knew it exists in some Asian cultures, related to Shinto and Buddhism. Maybe Hinduism too. I’d have to read up on it again.
Anyway, it’s been a good quiet weekend. Something to be grateful for.
